Illness Policy
Theatre on the Ridge (TOTR) maintains a healthy and safe working environment.
The following policy regarding illness applies to all staff, volunteers and contractors.
Individuals who are experiencing light to moderate illness involving coughing or sneezing are asked
to mask while in the company of others and maintain a safe distance for all.
Those experiencing more severe symptoms are asked to remain at home until symptoms subside or disappear over a 24-hour period. The Employment Standards Act provides unpaid job security for all employees (including contracted employees) for a period of up to three days. TOTR meets this standard.
Staff, volunteers or contractors must contact their supervisor or the company manager to report absence from work for illness or any other reason.
Arts Worker/Professional Artist/Arts Professional
Theatre on the Ridge supports the Ontario Arts Council definition of an “arts worker/professional artist/arts professional” as someone who has developed skills through training or practice, is recognized by artists working in the same artistic tradition, has a history of public presentation or publication, seeks payment for their work and actively practises their art.
Arts workers are individuals engaged in creating, producing, promoting, performing, presenting, distributing, and/or programming artistic work. This definition encompasses artists, arts administrators, community animators, curators, programmers, technicians, and arts educators who demonstrate professional training or practice and are recognized within their artistic discipline.
