Snapshots Short Play Festival 2025
The Snapshots Short Play Festival is just around the corner!
Snapshots 2025 – Patchwork: The Crazy Quilt of our Lives
May 9 & 10, 2025
At their most functional, patchwork quilts are multi-layered textiles, composed of many different elements assembled in traditional or abstract patterns. Patchwork quilts provide comfort and warmth, often from the humblest materials, pieced together to create order and substance from random scraps of fabric. Traditional quilt patterns capture historical or personal meaning, while contemporary quilts break out of the quilt block to tell their own rich stories through fabric and stitching.
Life can feel like the assembly of a “crazy” quilt – pieced together and crafted with no apparent pattern, the patches sourced from whatever comes to hand and with whatever stitches and decoration skill, time and resources allow. No two quilts are the same, no two lives are the same – we each have our own “bag of scraps” from which we stitch the fabric of our lives.
Whether literal or figurative, we invite playwrights to explore the crazy quilt of living through the metaphor of the patchwork quilt.
