Theatre on the Ridge Youth Collective Fall 2023

The Theatre on the Ridge Youth Collective is a unique creative training and performance experience for Scugog youth with an emphasis on stagecraft, playwriting, and process. Collective participants will be introduced to and/or experience classical theatre training, writing, collaborating, producing and performing their own original work, while developing their performance and production skills. Through challenging and confidence building theatre exercises and activities, and hands-on creation opportunities, participants discover and explore a complete theatrical experience onstage and behind the scenes, with a public studio performance held on the final session of the program. 

Ages 10-12

Playing On Stage: An Introduction To Theatre and Stagecraft 

Participants will be introduced to classical theatre training and practice through theatre games, monologues and scenework. Regular attendance is recommended.

Program dates: September 19 to December 12 

Program length: 12 weeks (12 hours total)

Program frequency: 1 session/week @ 1 hr/session x 12 weeks

No session October 31

Program Fee: $120/participant

12 Tuesdays, 4:00-5:00 PM in the meeting rooms at Scugog Recreation Centre.

 

Ages 13-17

Creation and Collaboration: Finding Your Voice 

This more intensive aspect of the Theatre on the Ridge Youth Collective offers a unique creative training and performance experience for Scugog youth with an emphasis on stagecraft, playwriting, and process. Collective participants experience writing, collaborating, producing and performing their own original work, while developing their performance and production skills. Through challenging and confidence building theatre exercises and activities, and hands-on creation opportunities, participants discover and explore a complete theatrical experience onstage and behind the scenes, with a public studio performance held on the final session of the program. As this program builds on work created in each session, regular attendance is required.

Program dates: September 16 to December 12

Program length: 12 weeks (48 hours total)*

Program Frequency*: 2 sessions/week @ 3 hr/Saturday session + 1.5 hr/Tuesday session = 4.5 hr/week

Program Fee: $385/participant

Saturdays 1:00-4:00 pm 

10 Saturdays, September 16 to December 9, 1 – 4 pm upstairs in The Lookout space at Scugog Recreation Centre
No sessions – Truth and Reconciliation Day, Thanksgiving weekend and Remembrance Day

Tuesdays 5 – 6:30 pm

12 Tuesdays, September 19 to December 12, 5:00-6:30 PM in the meeting rooms at Scugog Recreation Centre

No session October 31

*NOTE: Ages 13 – 17 are required to attend both Tuesdays and Saturdays. Single day/week enrolment will not be considered.
